There isn't really one fixed definition for what constitutes long-term abuse; the same goes for dependence. Your best bet is to immediately make every effort to stop problematic use of alcohol or any drug, and if you've developed dependence (addiction), to take measures that will wean you from it.

Depending on the drug, the effects also differ. Serious health effects may not show up until months or years later (though your body is still experiencing damage even before you start to notice obvious problems), and the extent to which the damage is reversible also depends on the drug, the amount you've been taking, and the number of years you've been taking it (our book discusses this in relation to smoking). But also, depending on the drug, one-time use can lead to overdose or serious/fatal injury as well, and within days of starting certain drugs, including nicotine, you can become addicted, which puts you in danger of years-long use.

Thanks for answering. I'm glad to receive your answer because I've been wondering what the secret you do bodyweight exercise without exercise from the floor is since I read the interview and some people discussed it on forum. Although I read TBK fitness project and enjoyed it, I've not read your current book yet and I misunderstood it has few pages about exercises, so I'll read it. And I'm looking forward to publishing the exercise book. Thank you very much!

Thanks for providing the link (I had forgotten about that interview). Some of the exercises are found in our current book (such as standing push-ups and push & pulls). I realized that if you perform exercises which can be done at higher reps, but perform them quickly, then your muscles get a great workout with a low risk of injury. That is why I include a lot of punching exercises in my routine. They pretty much target every muscle from the waist up when done at a rapid pace. The important thing is to use proper form.

I still plan on writing an exercise book. I know that I said the same thing a few years back, and I meant it, but due to work and family obligations, I was not able to devote the time I needed to get things moving. Now that I have teamed up with my sister, I should be able to publish the book sometime in 2014. The book will focus almost exclusively on exercise. It will have well over 100 different bodyweight exercises, and there is a unique way to workout behind the program. I will also include push-ups, sit-ups, etc, but will note in the book exercises that have a higher potential to cause injury (e.g. sit-ups can cause lower back pain in some people).
